Atlas Roofing Corporation®, for years a recognized leader in the manufacture of environmentally-friendly polyisocyanurate (polyiso) insulation, is now proud to announce that wood components used in the manufacture of its line of nailable insulation products have been granted the valued Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody Certification by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). SCS is an independent third-party certifier of environmental and sustainability purity claims, and is accredited by the FSC to certify companies to their international standards. FSC Chain of Custody certification means that Atlas Roofing® has met strict tracking requirements for ensuring that wood components used in Atlas® nailable insulation products represented as FSC Certified are manufactured with wood that comes from a well-managed forest.

Atlas® nailable insulation products that meet these strict FSC Chain of Custody Certification requirements are CrossVent®, CrossVent® RB, and Nail Base Insulation. These products are available at all Atlas polyiso manufacturing facilities in North America, can be specified in either FSC Pure, FSC Mixed, or FSC Recycled versions, and can contribute to gaining the Certified Wood LEED® credit.

CrossVent® from Atlas Roofing Corporation® is a pre-fabricated nailable polyiso foam insulation board for use over sloped unventilated roof decks. To promote air circulation within it, CrossVent® contains vent spacer strips to separate 7/16” OSB from the foam insulation. CrossVent® combines a nailable surface, insulation, and a ventilating airspace all in one panel.

CrossVent® RB is a nailable roof insulation product that combines multiple features into one pre-fabricated unit. It provides the superior insulating properties of polyiso insulation with the ability to let air flow through the unit to help dissipate heat build-up on the roof. There is also a nailable substrate OSB board that is bonded to the insulation and venting strips. Bonded directly to the underside of the OSB surface is an aluminum foil radiant barrier.

Both CrossVent® and CrossVent® RB are cost-effective “green” solutions for any roof. They can be installed without a thermal barrier directly on the roof deck. Installation is a one-step process – a labor saving solution with the benefit of high R-values to reduce energy demands.
